09. Papercraft Objects: Final Revision

Image
My VHS Tape Light Box. This is the final version of the VHS Tape Lightbox that I have created. By gaining knowledge from the prototypes that came before, I was able to address the most significant issues and produce a product that was satisfactory in the end. Due to the fact that I had never dealt with LED strips before, I was equally concerned with the actual interior design as well as the LED lights. This was in contrast to the situation with the products.  Following the completion of the tape itself, I began to concentrate on the design, which I initially worked on in Illustrator but later transferred to Rhino, where I completed it. When the designs wouldn't fit in the box, regardless of the dimensions I had predicted based on the rhino drawings, I did experience some warping. I also ran into an issue with transporting my designs as they took a lot of damage. This led to a lot of re-printing and designing. The best way I found to fix this was either using extra paper to reinforc

08. Papercraft Objects: First Prototype

Image
This is the first prototype of my VHS tape lightbox. After creating this prototype, I was able to identify and resolve all issues that I had previously overlooked, such as the number and size of tabs, as well as the scale of the tape itself. While assembling the pieces, I realized that the scale was far too small due to the small pieces in the interior of the design, so I doubled it to make them more manageable. I also realized that some of the tabs were excessively large, while others were completely unnecessary, so I had them removed in my second iteration. I also realized I had forgotten to change some of the cuts into scores because I kept cutting the wrong lines, which I corrected in my final design.

07. Papercraft Objects: Paper Template for Prototype (Update)

I was able to fix all the issues I had with my last attempt at getting the prototype ready for printing and should now be able to start the next step. I wasn't able to print my prototype last class, but I do have the files ready to go and should be able to catch up by the next class. I may have trouble putting the pieces together as the shapes are not straightforward, but I should be able to overcome that and fix it in my final design.
